The creation of logos has historically been a task reserved for professional design work. However, with the evolution of tools based on artificial intelligence, automated solutions such as LookaThey promise to generate a brand visual identity within minutes.
I decided to test it for a fictitious natural feed mark for dogs and cats, and this was the process and the results.
How Looka works
Looka is part of a rather guided flow, designed for people without design training. The initial process consists of several stages:
- Brand name and slogan: In my case, I used "PetShop" as a name and "Natural Products" as a claim.
- Color palette: You can choose up to three main ranges, which conditions the style of the logo.
- Visual inspiration: Ask you to select several logos that you like, which serves to define the general aesthetic of the result.
- Key words: Concepts such as "nature," "animal," "organic" help the IA to select icons and compositions more in line with the project.
With this data, the IA automatically generates a series of logo proposals, which you can preview and edit.

Results: first impressions
The tool quickly generated a series of logos. In functional terms, the system is agile, clean and visually clearbut the results have major constraints:
- The relationship between icon and name is weak: in most cases, the elements appear to be automatically placed without harmonic integration.
- The level of creativity is basicThe resulting logos are flat, have no personality and are easily confused with generic brands.
- Serves more as a reference than a final delivery: if you have design training, it can help you as a starting point or inspiration. But it does not replace the criterion of a professional.

Post edition
Once you have chosen a proposal, you can enter an editor where you can modify:
- Colors
- Typographs
- Distribution and spacing
- Position of the slogan
In addition, it shows you the logo applied in mockups (cards, social networks, web, etc.), which can be useful for visualizing the final impact. But it is important to know that the editor has limitations in terms of freedom of personalization.

A useful tool if you know what you're looking for
Looka can be an interesting option for users with no design experience who need a quick, functional and visually correct solution. It can also be useful for designers as first step or initial visual exploration.
However, if you are looking for a visual identity that really connects with brand values, which is memorable and differentiating, the IA still does not replace the strategic look and creative sensitivity of a professional designer.
